May 6 2017 Preparation from Florida
We have been getting things ready for a May 8 departure. Since we moved from central Iowa to central Florida in April of 2016, we have added 1400 miles to this trip plan! We initially planned to travel to Alaska in 2015, but were sidelined by vehicle hail damage in Arkansas. In 2016, we chose to make our move to Florida. Our plan is to travel through the Florida panhandle, then drive many miles on Interstate 55 to St. Louis. (This plan was put on hold for a few days due to the massive flooding in Missouri, including the closure of I-55 for a couple of days!) From St. Louis, we will travel to central Iowa, then head west.
